Variety Information
Citrus japonica (kumquat) × Citrus aurantiifolia (key lime). Released in 1913 by Walter Swingle, this is the result of an attempt to breed kumquat's relative cold hardiness into a lime-like fruit. Extremely juicy, with an aroma and taste almost identical to pure key lime. Limequat peels are edible and tasty, although maybe not quite as sweet tasting as the skin of pure kumquats.
